      Advanced Classes for Massage Therapists

Approved for National Certification NCBTMB, Washington & Oregon State and British Columbia College of Massage Therapists of Canada.

Introduction to Structural Relief Therapy
(3 CEU Hours)

SRT reprograms the jammed neurological signals of the muscles to and from the brain, which stops involuntary muscle contraction. In this hands-on class, you will treat the elbow and shoulder, and as the patient, you will experience immediate relief.

You will learn to:

  • Find and release the SRT tender points of the elbow and shoulder.

  • Understand chronic thoracic outlet and carpal tunnel syndrome differently.

  • Increase ROM by releasing the culprit tissues.

  • Feel the changes that SRT makes on your own body.

Structural Relief Therapy for the Neck
(6 CEU Hours)

Neck injuries and ergonomically poor posture lead to chronic pain and decreased ROM. These symptoms persist because of involuntary muscle contraction and strained connective tissues. Learn to treat chronic neck conditions by decreasing pain and increasing ROM.

You will learn to:

  • Become confident with neck structures, tissues, and their segments of movement.

  • Find and release the SRT tender points of the neck, dramatically increasing ROM.

  • Decrease tension at base of the skull by releasing the culprit tissues.

  • Understand how the 1st and 2nd ribs are critical for support and determine neck flexibility.

Structural Relief Therapy for the Shoulder, Arm and Hand
(6 CEU Hours)

Limited ROM of the shoulder and pain into the arm and wrist can be difficult to resolve with only soft tissue techniques. Learn the keys to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and part 1 of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. This is the class for patients with repetitive use syndrome (like LMP's).

You will learn to:

  • Understand what structures are the real culprits in thoracic outlet and carpal tunnel syndrome.

  • Become more confident with the rotator cuff muscles and how to release them.

  • Find and release the SRT tender points, decreasing the pain and involuntary contraction of the arm.

  • Feel and release the connective tissues of the forearm.

Structural Relief Therapy for the Torso
(6 CEU Hours)

Pain in the upper and middle back can be the cause of headaches, neck, arm, and chest pain. It is a difficult area for treatment until you understand the dynamics of the ribs. Learn the 2nd part of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, and this is the class for the "knife in the back."

      You will learn to:
  • Understand the 3 structures that are culprits in thoracic outlet syndrome.

  • Find and release the SRT tender points to eliminate the pain of the "knife in the back".

  • Become confident with the structures of the torso and how they influence many other common symptoms.

  • Find and release the connective tissues of the chest.

Structural Relief Therapy for the Low Back and Pelvis
(12 CEU Hours)

Low back pain is the most common and complex patient symptom. Learn to understand the structure of the pelvis and its relationship to the low back. Using SRT you will dramatically decrease low back pain in one treatment. In this 2 day class, learn the dynamics, evaluation, and treatment of the pelvis. This is the critical class for treatment of sciatica.

You will learn to:

  • Understand the structure of the pelvis and its relationship to the low back.

  • Using SRT, learn the keys to stabilizing the pelvis.

  • Find and release the SRT tender points of the low back.

  • Decrease low back pain symptoms including sciatica.

Structural Relief Therapy for the Hips and Knees
(6 CEU Hours)

The structure of the knee and hip can be intimidating but the knee can be the key to stabilizing the pelvis. Learn to correctly assess walking posture and movement dysfunction. This is the class for chronically tight hamstrings and Iliotibial bands.

You will learn to:

  • Become confident with the structures of the hip and knee.

  • Find and release the SRT tender points of the hips and knees.

  • Understand the relationship of knee movement to pelvis movement.

  • Find and release the connective tissues decreasing the problems of patella tracking and tight quads.

Structural Relief Therapy for the Lower Leg and Foot
(6 CEU Hours)

The foot is the foundation for pelvic and knee stability. Discover the intricate mechanics of foot movement during walking and running and how it influences the structures of the entire body. This is the class for foot pain and runner/sports injuries.

You will learn to:

  • Become confident with the structures of the lower leg and foot.

  • Find and release the SRT tender points of the lower leg and foot.

  • Discover the intricate mechanics of foot movement during walking and running.

  • Understand the feet as the foundation for stability of the knees and pelvis as well as the structures of the entire body.

Assessment and Integration of Structural Relief Therapy
(6 CEU Hours)

In this advanced class, you will learn real visual, verbal, and functional assessment of the body vs. the symptoms the patient reports. We will also discuss and demonstrate strategies to easily integrate SRT with the other techniques you use.  *** We strongly recommend you take several SRT classes before attending this advanced class.***

Clinics:
Taya uses her years of experience to evaluate and treat your patient. During this session you will have the opportunity to learn actual evaluation, assessment, and treatment strategies. Each patient is unique and must be treated for their particular symptoms in their own personal way. Taya schedules these 2 hour consultation appointments with you and your patient and they qualify in WA state for 2 CEU hours.
